Namibian seamen are paid ‘peanuts’ of between N$1 500 and N$3 000 per month, and receive no training to enhance their skills for promotions.
This is according to the president of the Namibia Seamen and Allied Workers’ Union (Nasawu) Paulus Hango.
Hango expressed his concerns during the Ministry of Fisheries 2015 annual fishing address at Walvis Bay last Friday, where Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources Bernhard Esau delivered the main address.
