Telecom to pay millions to former employees

The Supreme Court has confirmed a Labour Court arbitration award of N$647 760 each to 34 Telecom employees.
The court yesterday dismissed the company’s appeal against the arbitration award.
The employees now want the parastatal to pay 20% annual interest, which has accrued since 2009.
Telecom Namibia had appealed against a judgment delivered by Judge President Petrus Damaseb in the Labour Court on May 28, 2012, which refused in condonation for the late filing of an appeal against the arbitration award.
