Despite assurances by the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) that all the electronic voting machines (EVMs) had been tested and were working, many polling stations in Katutura had malfunctioning devices on Friday.
Voters at polling stations visited by Namibian Sun said voting started at 09:00, because the voting devices were not working.
The voters were not impressed with the EVMs.
Queues were long at Olof Palme Primary School in Greenwell Matongo and no votes were cast by 09:00. Some impatient voters went back home.
