Miss Teen Namibia 2014 Colette Rossouw advises fellow youth that “if you can imagine it, you can achieve it and if you can dream it, you can become it”.
Speaking to Namibian Sun from her home town of Tsumeb recently, the 18-year-old Grade 12 learner said she is very proud of her achievements.
She attributes them to believing in herself and working hard to achieve her goals.
“On the December 6, 2013, I was crowned - not only with the title of Miss Teen Namibia 2014, but also with a great responsibility. As a girl, I would be lying if I didn't say I enjoy the glitz and glamour of it all, but the chance to be a role model is the one thing I am really excited about.”
Colette continued: “I have a chance to show girls what true beauty is and that loving yourself is the key is to happiness. All my competitors that night were gorgeous and that I was crowned out of all of them is a real blessing.”
According to her, she had a dream and she finally had the courage to pursue it.
Colette added it’s now her turn to give back to her community that believed in her and she is looking forward to working with and encouraging other youth.
“I'm so excited about this year and everything it entails. I have big dreams and hopefully through my work I can pleasantly surprise everyone. So keep your eyes open and be prepared, because exciting is too much of an understatement to explain my year as Miss Teen Namibia 2014,” she said.
Colette is excited that she will be representing Namibia at the Miss Teen World in July, after which she will start her charity and youth development work in her home town.
She wants to encourage other youth, especially young women to believe in themselves and work hard for a bright future.
Colette said she wants to be involved in uplifting the lives of the youth by giving motivational talks at schools and becoming involved in youth programmes.
