Residents of the Ombwana Community in the Omusati Region last Wednesday were the happy recipients of a donation from the Walvis Bay-based Tweyapo Investment Fishing, which made a significant contribution towards the construction of a community hall.
The donated building material include corrugated iron sheets, bags of cement and fencing material with a total value of N$10 000.
The donation was handed over by company directors Johan van Zyl and Andreas Anguuo.
Van Zyl said the company was responding to a request by the community through their headman, Andreas Ambambi.
He said the request was approved based on its merits as it was clearly stated that the hall will be used for purposes such as immunisation campaigns and community meetings, and will also accommodate a kindergarten.
“We felt that this is a just cause that we needed to support and complement the government in its efforts to bring services closer to the people,” Van Zyl said.
According to Headman Ambambi the consignment of building material was the first donation that the Ombwana community has ever received.
