An American commercial farmers union - representing more than 200 000 farmers - and the United States Cattlemen’s Association (USCA) oppose a proposal to allow beef imports from Namibia to that country after the recent outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) in the Land of the Brave.
Acceptance of the September 18 proposal will add Namibia to the list of countries exporting meat to the US.
Roger Johnson, who is the president of America’s National Farmers Union (NFU), urged the US Food Safety and Inspection Services (FSIS) to oppose the proposal.
