South Africa and Zambia, as southern Africa’s representatives at the 2015 African Cup of Nations (AFCON), were eliminated from the competition in similar fashion.
Both sides were able to get on the score sheet during their group games but were unable to hold on to their early advantage.
Zambia had demonstrated this in their opening match against Democratic Republic of Congo when they found the back of the net through Given Singuluma in the second minute.
