German diplomat Georg Schmidt is filled with “shame and sorrow” over the atrocities committed by Germany during the 1904-1908 genocide, while saying his government will continue discussions with their Namibian counterparts regarding reparations for affected communities.
Schmidt, who is the new Director-General for sub-Saharan Africa and the Sahel of the German Foreign Office, arrived in Namibia on an official four-day visit last week.
