Prison authorities have instituted a high-level probe into how American murder accused Marcus Thomas, 31, managed to escape from his Windhoek Central Prison cell before he was thwarted by a high barbed-wire fence.
The hapless inmate was stuck for two hours early yesterday on the razor-sharp fence, leaving him with cuts and bruises all over his body. Amused onlookers crowded the scene where Thomas hung helplessly from the fence.
Just hours later, pictures of him went viral on social media.
