Namibia should raise weaners locally

The huge impact the temporary closure of the border with South Africa had on the exportation of live animals is a wake-up call for the beef industry in Namibia to rethink its production and marketing system.
This includes keeping weaners in the country and adding value to them locally.
This is according to Meatco Chief Executive Officer Vekuii Rukoro, who was addressing farmers at the second Agricultural Outlook Conference recently held in Windhoek by the Namibian Agricultural Union (NAU).
