Council of Traditional Leaders Chairperson Immanuel Kauluma Elifas says Namibian men must get the idea out their heads that if they have paid lobola or a bride price for their wife, they have bought her and can do as they wish.
This included abusing her during their marriage.
Elifas speech was read on his behalf by Ondonga Traditional Authority Senior Councillor Peter Kauluma at the opening of the 17th annual meeting of the Council of Traditional Leaders yesterday, which ends on Thursday.
