ELCRN parish treasurer testifies at fraud trial

ELCRN’s Macedonia Parish treasurer has told the Windhoek Regional Court in Katutura that one of the accused standing trial for defrauding the church of over N$700 000, had assured her he needed the money to pay for renovations. Hosiena Taapopi testified on Wednesday that Jafet Sem told her the cheques she was signing were to pay builders who were renovating a building on the church premises. She said Sem was accompanied by his co-accused Eunice Nakapunda. Sem, Nakapunda and Mark Beukes are facing 15 fraud charges or alternatively theft.
