The country’s hospitality industry can breathe a collective sigh of relief after it emerged that they do not have to put up graphic pictures of smoking-related diseases in their establishments.
Namibian Sun has seen a document confirming that it is not compulsory to display these pictures in restaurants, hotels and other establishments, as the message on the pictures is for the purpose of health information to encourage behaviour change and not to irritate people.
This matter has been referred to the Tobacco Control Committee, which apparently hasn’t held any meetings yet. Read more about Graphic anti-smoking images not compulsory
