Tradition and culture
I totally agree with Minister of Local Government Charles Namoloh that we must preserve our cultures. However, the minister fails to realise that it is his very government that is destroying our culture by enforcing these so-called modern laws to the letter, which are nothing else but a foreign culture. Culture is not performing traditional dances and putting on traditional attires.

Riruako
Rest in peace Chief Riruako, you were a great man and contributed much to the country of your birth. May God be with your family during this difficult time.
*The chief is dead! Long live the chief! It has been overwhelming to see the response to Chief Riruako’s death and to begin to understand what his impact truly was. A great man indeed.

FIFA
We must get the bottom the allegations that African football bosses received money to support Qatar’s World Cup bid. The continent must not allow itself to be bought over to support the interests of others, especially those who buy favours with money and gifts.

Stabbings
What is going on in Namibia? Every weekend one hears of stabbing and murders linked to alcohol use. Are we so out of control that we must resort to weapons to resolve arguments? How do you end someone’s life because of a simple disagreement?

Poaching
The minister is correct when he says that poachers should receive heavy sentences. We cannot allow people to come into our country and rob future generations of its wildlife and other natural beauty. Things have already gone too far.

Gender-based violence
Women are not safe any longer in the country of their birth. Forty of them have been murdered this year alone. What can really be done to stop this slaughter?
